Near read! Was there any relation between this and the United Technologies rad hardened ASIC chips?

Aeroflex acquired UTMC in the 1990s so in a way yes

Males sense. The semiconductor acquisition was a weird buy for United Technologies, but they had a CEO at the time who wanted to expand out of their core lines of business. For better or worse. I understand that the UTMC venture was not very successful under the Unitied Technologies banner. And like many if those illl-fated acquisitions, it was divested. Neat to see it continued on with the right owner.
