I am not sure if this should be in Vintage or Modern or.... but the Website does not seem to feature Intersil/Renesas as an 80C88 maufacturer.

Of course, this is the (currently) last element in the chain of
Intel Military
Harris (likely mandated second source)
Matra-Harris aka MHS (Semiconductor line Spin-off, later - except for product lines including the 8088 - acquired by Atmel)
Intersil (Spin-off of all the remaining semiconductor business)
Renesas (Producing everything with their original label; I purchased new components with both IDT and Intersil logos on them)

For the history of Harris and their semiconductor business I can recommend reading their Wikipedia page.

On one hand, I understand not listing Intersil/Renesas; on the other hand we have Harris and MHS. And we at least have new logos. And we have Intersil 80286. As a starter, I have attached a picture of an Intersil CP80C88-2Z, made in 8088/4=2022 Very Happy

Edit: enabled BBCode

I would have said 2002 or 2012, as I think this was the second incarnation of the Intersil Corporation (spun off from Harris in 1999)

Looks suspicious...

I ordered it late 2021 from Mouser and had to wait nearly 1.5 years for it to be made, until I received it this May. It is real, and it is still made.

Renesas: https://www.renesas.com/us/en/products/space-harsh-environment/mil-std-883-products/mil-std-883-microprocessors-and-peripherals/80c88-cmos-8-bit16-bit-microprocessor

The category it is listed in is the most likely reason for it still being made.

Mouser: https://www.mouser.de/ProductDetail/Renesas-Intersil/CP80C88-2Z
Digikey: https://www.digikey.de/en/products/detail/renesas-electronics-america-inc/CP80C88-2Z/3074201

Hence why I am not sure if Vintage is the right category Wink

I think you posted it in the right place, as even though it is extremely late production, the core was designed in the late 70s Smile Nobody will look for an 8088 class CPU in the modern section.
