So, running a website is a continuous struggle against time.
Practically you are more or less continuously moving, upgrading, changing OR you freeze time and cling to whatever works. I have done the later for http://www.chipdb.org (and my own collection site) for the last 7-8 years and now it comes to and end. The software i have been using is dead. No activity, few updates and incompability with new PHP and MySQL. And i need to move to a new server and re-install everything.
The solution in the short term is to rip the whole site with wget as static html pages and move it. But that gives no more updates ( as if there has been ). I still have an idea to continue the work some day.
But, anyone have any ideas of software to use and that can be hosted on a Linux server and nginx?
Just a really simple gallery software that can handle lots of categories and subcategories without getting cluttered. No fancy stuff, just thumbnails and pics organized and perhaps the possibility to add a note to the image. Not a gallery in Wordpress if i can avoid it. _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Ancient. and unsupported these days as well, it does work with modern PHP though, I think I originally installed that 20 years ago (pre wordpress)
I liked it because it parsed images from the directory structure and created everything from that _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
