Thank you very much for your useful information about the DEC cpu.
You're part of my cpu collection memory. Are you still remember you went to hospital when repairing the house proof (around 2013)?
The first thing you did in hospital was to tell your son to login in CPU-World to inform us you couldn't send the parcel on time.
I always tell my wife why cpu collection is so attractive to us. Manly because we tresasure every cpus and we all treat them not only the money value, but the relationship between us. |

Stepping into 2014, some very rare cpus was bought and made my collection more interesting.
I guess most of us would buy rare cpus from other collectors. The funny part would be how to negotiate with the seller.
I was lucky to buy this rare 486DX4-100 without any price talk at RMB3000 (approx USD480) from China, shipping approx RMB15 (USD2)
Not easy to find the white printing type 486 ES. Happy to add one to my 486 ES collection. |

I fought for this symbolic cpu via ebay bidding. Price was approx USD1868, free shipping.
As a Hong Kong cpu collector, I couldn't resist this rare C4004 grace trace cpu made in Hong Kong. It reminded me that in 1970's, Electronics industry was one of Hong Kong core business. |

One month later after the C4004GT arrival, another very very special ES was arrived.
I still remembered I first saw this one on Taoboo from the very famous China seller at RMB3000. It was sold to the China collector later.
Many years was past. I had contacted with the China collector and he was downsizing his collection. He listed it on Taoboo and the asking price was RMB10,000 (Approx USD1600). My first offer was RMB6500 (approx. USD1,042).
The final price was RMB6,100 (approx USD977), free shipping.
Some say it's a PII-like cpu but not for sure. |

Wow, the pin arrangement looking similar to half of the Pentium-Pro package, could really indicate it being an early concept for the Pentium-II. Very cool chip, indeed!
Date is Wk 23 of 1996, right? Would that fit with an early PII concept? |

Just one month later after I bought the Q029, another similar mysteries ES was bought from forum member at USD700.
My guess was another cpu es for this one. I tried to find the answer so I opened the back lid. I changed my guess to a cache ES.
Still a unforgetable memory when I looked back to 2014. |

As a cpu collector, we always face the problem to find the rare/vintage cpus. One of the main source would be other collectors downsizing or quiting. (Remember to make the deal quick or you will lose the chance to get your dream cpus)
50/50 FPU is always my dream target. After waiting for more than 10 years, I finally bought it from forum member at USD250,
I can't describe how happy when I hold it on my hand. |

Some surprise came again and again in 2014.
I saw two damaged Intergraph cpus in a scrap lot so I bought them via AVICC at USD63.57.
Finally I was told by John that there was a 486 ES was included in this scrap lot.
Happy and amazing experience. |
