Thank you, Bator.
IBM MCM is so beautiful, but they make it really confusing on the series, generations and naming. _________________ Want List

In Jan 2015, I received a fantastic Pentium boxset. It wouldl be a very long story.
I found a fresh forum member to show he had this brand new Pentium boxset. It seemed that he wanted to find the buyer.
Not easy task for me to talk with a non-collector seller. The seller lived in Denmark and had a bad selling experience with Hong Kong buyer. He therefore asked me to pay him by bank transfer (Paypal was not accepted because he was cheated by the previous Hong Kong buyer using Paypal). I agreed with the price he wanted but I couldn't accept the bank transfer method(I didn’t know him and he was a fresh member at that time). I suggested that he could buy the insurance for his protection (I would bear the insurance costs) He was still not sure whether I was a honest buyer. I was very disappointed and believed I couldn't make the deal with him. He finally asked me to provide any trust/useful background information. I showed him my ebay feedback (300+ positive feedback and he has only 200+ positive feedback). Also he requested a telephone talk to me to make sure that I was a real existing person. (LOL)
I still remember it's around 20:00 at night. I and my wfie was eating dinner at restaurant. He called me using the IDD and I used my very very very bad English to talk to him. I repeatedly said that I was not a cheater and really wanted to buy the Pentium boxset as my collection He finally believed that I was honest buyer. After 2-3 mintues telephone conversation, I wiped the beads of sweat from my forehead. My wife laughed at me that I was too nervous. I replied to my wfie that I did want to buy that boxset because I didn't know when I could find next one.
The price was USD1300 + USD155(Express + Insurance)
Dream come true. |

One of the funnest things for cpu collection is miracle.
You never know what's the next buy and when will you find your rare cpus.
Almost similar situation happen again in May 2015.
A fresh forum member asked for the valuation of a Brand New Overdrive boxset.
I quickly PM him and asked for the price. This time is a easy deal because he trusted me as a honest buyer. I just required he shipped the boxset with insurance (didn't want to get it lost in shipping) He told me the selling price of USD1,000 + shipping USD100 (insurance included) and I paid him by Paypal.
I couldn't imagine I could buy two brand new MS boxset within half year. Miracle.
I waited a bite longer because he wronly wrote the shipping address LOL.

According to my record, I spent nearly USD15,000 in 2015 for cpus.
From my view, rare CPUs will appear again and again when your wallet nearly dry out . |

Not many cpu collector in Hong Kong. I was happy to find that one of my colleague (“Mr. H”) was a cpu collector. He only focus on goldcap Pentium & Pentium pro.
I still remembered he bought a Pentium pro scrap lot from ebay. He didn’t aware that the seller would send the pentium pro without many protective bubble. All pentium pro was damaged when he received them 3 weeks later. I bought some damaged pentium pro from him.
Mr. H couldn’t help to buy many many Pentium & Pentium pro. I had asked why he didn’t change to other type of cpu such as 386/486. He replied that he just loved goldcap Pentium & Pentium pro. After 1-2 years, he gave up the cpu collection.
I always asked for his help to pay the Taoboo payment because I didn’t have PRC payment tools. He always said that I was a amazing person to keep this hobbit for such long time.
the photos was taken in 2015, He (right) and I(Left) was excited when the AVICC parcel arrived at office. |
