A question to overclocking...
I have an AMD 1300 Athlon in my kids pc...
I know of all people I should know the answer, but I've never try to overclock a old 1300 before...is it safe?
Most of their games require 1.5gb CPU (1500 equivalent or there abouts).
I'm not willing to go Intel, don't even think about it , just need to know if anyone has overclocked a 1300 before, and that the results were good.
More info....:
The current CPU temp is running @ 41'C .
... at max load about 48'C(after gaming several hrs).
Mobo is a MATX auto clock feature(jumperless) or and cmos controlable.
Video is onboard, max clocked at 64mb(mem sharing).
Total sdram is 512mb
Running XP pro ,ofcourse.
Thanx,

i havent OC'd a 1300, but i have OC'd a 1700 to a 2100+'s clock speed succesfully. There are risks of OCing any cpu, if you wanna take the risk, make sure you have adequate cooling and remember the settings you had before just incase Windows has a problem (with overheating, nvrmnd the other 5billion problms:) )
good luck if you decide to do it _________________ ---Kubuntu Linux 6.10 Edgy--- |

Thunderbirds were hottest CPUs ever made by AMD so they have very small OC potential. Not worth to do anything especialy on 1300 model _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

That's actually a good observation. The T-birds were running hot a bit allready at normal setting(very true).
So, I guess It wouldn't be wise to "overcook the bird" !
Maybe I'll try clocking it to 1500, once I have a another cpu at hand for replacement...
Any sellers out there ? AMD 1500 up to 2400 ?
