I have no idea if it works. Every once in a while I find a penitum 4 at the scrap yard when I am going through looking for vintage chips. Sometimes I extract them myself and sometimes they have already been extracted by the not so carefull scrapyard employees (last week my wifes pc got upgraded to a penitum 4 2.4ghz after I finished straightening the bent pins.) This 1.7ghz I extracted so I know it was not damaged at all during the extraction but I do not know if it worked to start with. I have not tested it. My guess is that the chances of it working are pretty good. If your going to buy it and just want me to test it to make sure it works I could do that. (The only reason I usualy don't bother testing them is that they don't seem to sell for any more gauranteed then they do with no gaurantee. Also, I always worry about the buyer messing the chip up and then telling me it didn't work when they got it when I know good and well it did.)
