I was putting an NEC r5000 that I just found at the scrap yard and comparing it to one I already had to see if I had a duplicate to sell and I realized that apparently I had not read the original chip at any point Embarassed because it was sitting in entirely the wrong drawer. Read it, I bet you can figure out what I mean. (the original chip is on top)

it is still undecided wether ES on these chips means samples, I tend to lean towards it just being another die code, as I have seen it on hundreds of NEC VR chips.

does seem like there are a bit many of them floating around on collectors sites. Still, I definately should have read the chip better. Makes a man paranoid about all those chips sold off as scrap over the years.
