So I've noticed these two Intel offerings and on paper, they look like identical chips. Same clock, same cores, same cache, same architecture, same iGPU specs. Yet, the 1335U is 3-6% faster in some benchmarks. The only thing I found (and I can't find it anywhere else to confirm) is the 1335U supports vPRO, which has no bearing on performance.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Intel ark says they both have vPro.
It seems they have slightly different memory support limits, 1335 supports up to LPDDR5-6400, while 1334 to LPDDR5-5200. 1335 also has Image Processing Unit.
Benchmarks for laptop cpus are not really useful to distinguish comparable processors due to possible different power/thermal limits, memory type/speed on different laptop models.

Good catch even when specs look the same on paper, slight differences like memory support (LPDDR5-6400 vs LPDDR5-5200) or power limits can affect real-world performance.

If you want to get a clearer idea of how either CPU might behave in a full system (especially when paired with specific GPUs or workloads), I’d suggest trying this Bottleneck Calculator:
bottleneckcal.com
It analyzes CPU, GPU, RAM, and resolution together to show if one part is holding back the system. Helped me avoid buying the wrong combo in my last laptop upgrade.

Hope that helps!
