I am curious if this cpu,Intel Core 2 Quad q6400, is a sanded down fake?
It reads a Q6400 internally but not the SL9UN Production release.
It reads as QUPW on hwinfo.
Physically, it reads SLACB as the S-SPEC on the IHS. SLACB is reserved to Xeon 5310 S-SPEC. Additionally, it is recognized as a engineer sample (ES) according to CPU-Z & hwinfo.
Please let me know what you are thinking.
Thanks much |

It is most probably a QUPW. Some are sanding and reengraving the IHS with some regular Sspec, because ES are selling much less than retail, at least at the beginning of the life of a cpu. I have a E5-2680 like this. It has the regular SSpec but it identified in CPU-Z as an ES and in HWiNFO It gives me the QSpec of the same stepping.
Here you also have the same stepping than production so it is not a big big deal, but very strange that they used a completely wrong Sspec for remarking ! Guy was drunk maybe _________________ Register on x86-guide.net to manage and share your collection on-line !
