Wow, seems that unregistered user accessing to the cpu-world.com blocked unless if I logged into it. I just found out that when I access to the FPU site whilst not logged in got blocked.

Seems that the accessing to the site whilst not logged may have problem with number of accessing to the site by port availability may be overloaded by the site server Confused

After my IP ban finally is gone on the forum page, I can't wiev s-spec pages, with the following error - all though I am logged in

We deny access to:

Open proxies
Addresses within data center IP ranges
Automated requests and most types of bots
Visitors that post spam in comments and/or forums, attempt to circumvent site security, or scrap the content of our site.

That was new to me, but it seems you're right. Will try later when back home, if this makes a difference.

I just don't get why I can't use this site any more, for me it's now totally useless. When I try to access https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/index.html I get:

Access denied
This IP address is blocked.
We deny access to:

Open proxies
Addresses within data center IP ranges
Automated requests and most types of bots
Visitors that post spam in comments and/or forums, attempt to circumvent site security, or scrap the content of our site.

I plan to wait a week or three and hope it get's fixed

Yeah....

Pretty much the same here as for others. I guess for me it probably started around 2 months ago.

Curiously, I can log-in and use the Forums as normal. But trying to access any single CPU spec page brings up the 'error' as mentioned by Calbris in post #2:-

https://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=329182#329182

.....the red bar across the top of the page, stating "Access denied. This IP is blocked...." Makes no difference whether I'm logged-in to the main site or not.....still "Access denied".

How do we clear cookies, guys? Every time I try to access my profile here, I'm immediately told my profile is updated and sent straight back to the front-page. I never get a chance to clear cookies! Rolling Eyes

====================================

Don't take this the wrong way, but is Gennady aware that he's using an ancient version of phpBB.....which itself could be partially responsible for what's going on? I recognise it, 'cos it's identical to the one the Puppy Linux community used to use, which was provided by John de Murga (murga-linux.com), and originally set-up all the way back in 2005. When he passed away in early 2020, we had months of messing around trying to get control of the domain, etc., so as to be able to eventually migrate the database and finally upgrade to a modern version of phpBB. The guys at phpBB were amazed anyone was able to update from such an old, heavily-patched series-2 version, especially with well over a million posts. They'd never known anyone be able to do that before.

(John's widow was more than happy for the community to take control of the forum/VPS/etc, but Namecheap were an absolute PITA throughout the entire process!)

Just FYI...

Turn off IP banning in the case of visits causing ban. It should only be done manually in extreme cases where it isn't a user's browser refreshing because they are viewing content about chips on your site.

Turn the dumb thing off. This is an outdated and problematic tech feature that has always been more trouble because it bans like it's trigger happy. There is no intelligent policy to it. It just bans whenever it sees an IP address that uses some feature or content per period of time which is also miscalibrated. It would then ban not only that address but everyone within an entire IP pool like if someone's IP address was 255.255.255.34 (I know it would not be a proper external IP address), it would ban 255.255.255.* or 255.255.*.* or ban 255.*.*.*. So a lot of people get instantly banned because of one jerk. Lets also remember that we should be banning the device per some unique device # because web bots these days uses phony IP addresses much like telemarketers uses phony phone numbers or that of others to mask their real. The IP address in the packet header is altered to show a different IP address than the actual. Packet manipulation. Automated IP banning should not be used anymore, period. A different method should be used. Until other automated methods is suitable, this should be done MANUALLY or not worry about at all except in extreme cases.

It is better to not

So many people telling their "fixes" which includes: Creating an account. Clearing cookies, swapping over to FireFox (different user-agent). NOTHING WORKS.

Banning should be done through MAC-adress, never IP because so many share the same. This is just stupid. And as others pointed it, it should only be done in extreme cases for those that violated the rules or DDos the site. Remove this "blacklisted ips" it is not working as it's intended too.

Yeah, today, it seem most of the sub pages show me ip ban messages if i use chromium based browsers. I tried 3 different internet provider and android chrome, pc chrome, pc edge, but only pc firefox was allowed to show the page
(e.g.: https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Xeon/TYPE-Xeon%20E5-2600%20v2.html )

My home IP is blocked, I really don't know why. Few hours ago it worked, but not anymore. Maybe it's because I visited some strange url from cpu-world, but that's because the forum search sucks and I think google is also blocked because it doesn't find anything. With duck duck go you find more, but the urls points to host2.cpu-world.com.

Maybe there is less activity here because no one can't find the forum lol
