How many of you keep the fan with the processor on these? I must say I consider it like any other boxed processor and tend to toss the fan.

These fans are special - taking power from CPU (internal power) and they are genuine and they are part of CPU not as today's coolers - scrap.

Me too. Morever the fan hides markings on the heatsink, so I remove them before taking photos.

I consider that if a processor originally shipped with a heatsink and fan, they should be kept together, as the hs/fan is part of the processor. I remove the fan for scanning (giving three pics instead of two) then reattach for storage.

Where a boxed processor had a separate hs/fan in the box but not attached, I'm less concerned about not having them.
