Why so high fees?
which are fees or tariffs for a package under $50 value sent to AVICC via normal post (USPS)?
there is a table to consult?

Are Gift Declarations still Ok even under $100? Any new issues? I now see this on the French Post Site,

Quote:

Any Item with some Market Value cannot be Declared as Gift, including Products bought by the Sender to gift them to the Recipient (like a DVD, Book,...), Samples, Promotional Items, etc. Parcels not complying may be sent back or even destroyed by the Us Customs.
There is also a mention saying that basically only "Home Made" Items are allowed...

Do things still go through normally and the French Post is just being paranoid, or did they really start enforcing these extremely strict Rules on Gifts?

In the Swiss Post they don't mention such Rules, though any electronic Device is forbidden and they very strictly enforce this as Cpus have indeed been returned... Somehow France did not have such restriction, though that was months ago...

Pretty much still gets taxes whether gift or not, best way to send to US is low value and FedEx, UPS has went full mobster on this, charging hundreds of dollars in fees, Fedex doesnt care, they just give ya the package
