286 are common in LCC package like that.

Some believe ES is engineering sample, I do not.

I am reminded of the CS marking found on these packages .. there have been a few threads about this. Some believed CS mean customer sample .. but I have many variations of CS and other codes.

I havent seen any ES marked like that in the same way so maybe I must conceed Wink Nice chip!

Can you take a picture/scan of the top please?

I believe it's ES. I had a similar chip, labeled 286-4 ES which was definately ES Smile Traded with Karolo and then the chip was lost to Italy :-/
