hello
I have a gigabyte ga-7zxe motherboard and recently got a 1.6 duron 266 fsb processor to upgrade my old 950 duron 200 fsb, gigabyte website saids the 1.6 is not supported but the manual saids 600-1.5 and faster? will it likely not work when I put it in or does it just get no tech support from gigabyte?

thanks

it saids the 1.6 isn't supported I seen that already, I was wondering if it won't work at all or if its just got no tech support from gigabyte

I initially read tha manual and bought the 1.6 based on it saying it was good for 600-1.5 and faster, then yesterday I looked thru the website to see if I was going to have to update the bios and seen the bad news on the 1.6 and I am hoping it will work

thanks again

If you have a PCB rev2 you can put a cpu up to XP2600+ (thoroughbred FSB266). If PCB rev1, up to 2100+ and no Duron 1400, 1600 and 1800.
If you try to put a Duron 1600 on a rev1 mb, it will not work.

Check markings on your mb to know if you have rev1 or rev2.
