looks like genuine.

Q126 is a SPGA 166, and the datecode on both side are matching.

What makes you think its fake? You just think it's to go to be true or something Jac? You would think with all the pentium engineering samples you have it would get mundane Wink

Truth be told I think that ES chips are the least likely to be faked convincingly. Most of the really well done fakes were done by foriegn companies back when the chips were new and quite valuable for the purpose of fooling people into buying a chip that had been remarked at a higher speed. Some of these are quite well done. It would not be beyond my imagination to see high quality lazer engraving done on fake chips. Faked engineering samples would be a fairly recent production for the purpose of fooling collectors. Their aren't many of us and we don't spend near the money per chip that new chips command on most ES chips. I don't see well done fakes becoming a problem. I don't think a person could make a lazer engraver pay for itself by ripping us off.

I must be the only person to think that the text dosen't quite look right...

It may just be the scan, but the white text dosen't look straight, and the engraved text doesn't look right to me, but at the moment I can't explain why...

Have you tried to clean the top using a cellulose thinner, or something similar, that would lift off anything that may cover the original markings? If you have then you have your answer Smile

I'll test it as well. Running super hot is a good sign of fake.
