My first step (if a visual inspection doesn't give a conclusive answer) would be to test the CPUID value. If that is right and I was still not sure, I would compare the FPO and other numbers with those on other, known good chips.

CPUID is always my first step when testing any x86 chip, and if the value is correct I would assume it to be valid unless there is a good reason to suspect otherwise (and as differering text isn't always as good an indicator as one might think, I would suggest the FPO number to be the second thing to compare with known good chips).

If a chip is dead, then I guess a visual inspection is about the only way to test (but it will always interest me to hear about other methods that don't involve destroying the chip to inspect the core).

Your meaning is to use the CPUID software, this software can test the model number of the processor, the processor family, cache, the clock frequency and manufacturer.

OK~~~Very thankful Razz

An easy way I quickly spot Chinese fake Pentiums is by the (R) in the logo. 90% of the Chinese Pentium fakes I have seen have an r like "R" (the bottom slant is 45 degrees, and not curved).

Observe carefully, discover the R is really different. Razz
