It seems that you have Athlon XP 2400+. I cannot find any reliable information if this board can run anything faster than 2400+. I think it should run Athlon XP 2600+ with 266 FSB, but it won't run anything faster than that as the board doesn't support 333 and 400 FSB.

If you already have Athlon XP 2400+ then upgrading to XP 2600+ doesn't make much sense. You won't notice performance increase, and Athlon XP 2600+ is very expensive - it's selling for $75 - $100 on eBay. For the same money you can get newer motherboard and faster processor. The only drawback is that you'll need new memory too.

hey i appreciate your time u have given in responding to my issue. by and large i want a new up-to-date mbo but of course military wages and my family kinda limit me on what i can do. like i said though the input is appreaciated and it has answered my q's. i do have one more though from the info u have given me i didn't know that the processor name was actually athlon xp 2400. how does this nomenclature come about when the info i gave u on my processor was pasted from my sys info on my computer? i guess that was kinda confusing me. thanks and godspeed.
