Intel Pentium III 1.1/256/100/1.75V CPU? My CPU is a 800/256/100/1.65V. I'm wondering about the voltage difference.....Does the CPU regulate that voltage or does the MO regulate that voltage to the CPU? I'd like to desolder my old CPU and install this newer/faster CPU. Thanks!

The motherboard regulates the voltage to the cpu. You will need to find your motherboards manual to find out exactly how to change this. In this era motherboard it may be done by jumpers but is probably done by dip switch. Switching out these two processors should not present a problem as the front side buss is the same. Any motherboard that could handel your previous processor should be able to handel the new one. Also, I sure hope your processor is not soldered in. This is quite unlikely. It should be in a socket 370 ZIF socket. Removing it involves only removing the heatsink, lifting a lever, and gently removing the chip. Also, be careful when you put the heatsink on the new chip. The die (that flat rectangle sticking up in the middle of he chip) is very easy to fracture. You must install the heasink gently and flat.

Odds are, if you have an OEM (brand name) PC, you will not be able to make the upgrade until you find if a BIOS update patched for 133MHz FSB- There is a reason you were shipped without a processor which uses it.

better check your mobo manufactures web site see if they have a cpu support page for your mobo. alot of mobo's won't go over 733 to 1gig it varies by the manufacture and model number of your mobo. if your mobo supports 933 1 gig its most likely will support a 1.1gig cpu. I have a Pro266 master by MSI it supports up to a 1.1 gig celeron and a 1.13 coppermine PIII. but I also have MS-6178 it only supports up to a 900mhz celeron and just a five 100mhz PIII coppermines thats why its was torn down and put in a box in the closet. so definitely check your manufactures web site on your mobo model, version number, and bios version for cpu support heres a good example of the wide variance.
