Good old topic. One short question : someone removed glue at top from Pentium 60/66 ? It is very strong and not friendly I drench one Pentium 66 for half day and still hard Unable to remove. I worry to use stronger chemistry because I want CPU with prints. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

I use "nitro thinner" for my ceramic chips, it works perfect.
I have cleaned nearly 300 chips and have had never problems with a damaged printing or something like that.
You can clean up the glue, stickers and very easy cooling paste with nitro thinner and it doesn't cost much.
But be carefull with plastic!
On the new chips like p3 i use it too, but never on the older plastic chips, it "eats" the plastic. There for i use ethyl alcohol, works perfect to me.
Have a look at my avatar, it is a fake i386 the first chip i have cleaned with nitro thinner The printed fakes don't like it, i have some pentium fakes where the printing was "washed up" with it. |

hehhehe goood fake I couldn't remove this glue from pentium 66. Someone from chinese collectors told me there isn't chance to remove it without KNIFE. I used it. No glue but some small scratches. I prefer that than ugly big fat glue _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

I use Wildcat TR-60 Tape Remover. Works well for removing sticky stuff and heatsink goop. _________________ you cannot have too much junk. just too little space for said junk. |

| I have the best result with the Isoprophyl alcool for plastic and ceramic chip, MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) pure for hard glue ONLY on ceramic chip because melt the plastic and delete the writings. |

I was having some trouble with my P3/850 and I decided to use one of the tools suggested on this thread- That hammer totally fixed it. Thanks for the tip!
HAHA Nah, I use a CD and a paper towel- I like using linty things for sticky messes cause they stick to the sticky parts and then the parts are easier to scrape- then I use my thumb to wipe off the rest of the sticky lint. |
