|
|
Hi, apologies for starting another thread on this. I think i have found the problem ..........so straightforward questions and hopefully answers.
see thread xp 3000 and asrock k7shx title
When i switch my sons comp on it dies about 1 sec after switching power on. it gets as far as starting the cpu fan for 1 sec. requiring the rear power switch to be turned off for a while .
when i remove the cpu and press on switch the cpu fan starts up and remains on as if there is no faults.
but
if i re-install cpu it goes back to doing same.
I have a xp 2500 which has same jumper settings of 333 mhz.
will i just insert this and try ? and
I noticed there are no FID jumpers installed on teh motherboard , can this be a problem ?
thanks in advance

Yes, try it.
FID via bios? shouldn't be a problem, xp have locked multipliers. |

Try replacing the little battery, maybe it got fried and prevents the system to boot. It happens so as a last thing it'll do no harm.
Can you try the cpu with another motherboard (the cpu you bought)?
At this point I think that the motherboard is probably dead. |
