|

Hello,
I would like to know if upgrading my actual CPU, P4 630 (3Ghz) to a e6300 Core 2 Duo, I would gain some more frames in games. I also use a Leadtek 7900Gs PCIe videocard, 1Gb DDR2 and a SATA2 HDD. In games like Oblivion, FEAR, I have a good framerate, not extraordinary but ok. But in new games like Rainbow6 Vegas my framerate is a little bit poor so I also think of future games that will bring the same issue.
Thank you. |

| Is there a hiden answer in your reply, JD? I cannot find an answer to my question. Could a Core 2Duo (e6300) give me a faster frame rate than my actual cpu? |

Yes, this is the "hidden" answer you'll find vs the system requirements .
Obviously, if you up your CPU past the requirements of 3gig ,then it should work better. But I'm curious about something...What if you'd up your memory instead?

| Yes, I will up my memory too, but first I was thinking about the CPU. The problem is that I've upgraded my video card from 7600gt to this 7900gs and there was just a little difference in framerate. So I would like to make another upgrade to have a better framerate. And I could thing only about the CPU, am I right? |

...I say yes...(to the cpu upgrade).
But I'm always sceptical about the other things like, refresh rate of a monitor and the vid settings in the game itself ! As all games have default settings, like when I play Halo CE online, I had to tweak the Video settings and refresh rate in order to have the same "gameplay" results as my other games.
Just another few things to look at in my checklist of things to do before I spend more $ on parts !
