So, well, other then collecting CPUs, what other computer related addictions do you have?!
Lets see, for me it would be Overclocking, The Internet of course (cant live without it),
Anyone have any funny computer stories?
Last night, (this aint rly funny, but cool), i was playing a card game, and my cards left were K 6 (like amd k6) ....and i won! Well....yeah. I know, stupid thread. _________________ ---Kubuntu Linux 6.10 Edgy--- |

Folding @ home
folding.stanford.edu
Tis a project (distributed computing) that wants to see how protiens fold (and mis-fold) when in different environments (temperatures, water etc) this is useful for making new polymers, and also curing many diseases (such as cancers) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

| I find protien folding fascinating. It is an especialy interesting area of study in that as you have mentioned the appications can be so lucritive. It's dificulty is compounded by the fact that protiens are aided in their folding by other protiens though. The best known case of this is probably the mad cow prion which misfolds normal functional protiens into mis-folded prions like itself. I tend to think that although the application of computer modeling to protien folding will be vital to organic chemistry (specificaly synthetic synthesis of drugs) in the future it won't be as revealing to biology. I just think the more we study it the more we will realize that the folding of protiens is so aided by the enzymatic catylisis of other protiens that applying computer simulations based on global variables like temperature and PH won't be particularly revealing (except in that it will reveal the need for catylisis.) |

..not sure how to apply addiction within computers here...hehehe...I live and breath computers on a daily basis. PC Techy.
But if I were to actually call an addiction towards something, I'd also have to say :
--->Forums
--->Ebay
--->Gaming
And oh yes, I agree with chipcolector---> Battlefield 2142, which is scheduled for release this Autumn

email junkie because of blackberry.
what causes some of my ugly posts:-)
nothing more computer related.
...
How can I tune my polystyrene airplane or helicopter by use of a computer? Then I'd have one thing more.
Actually I am an absolute "Silverlit" enthusiast. Those models are absolute fun:-)
You know em? |

Test hardware, benchmark, overlock (not cooling). Hardware problems - I like to fix them. It is bad I don't do that always at work _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

My addictions are:
1. play old 80's pc games, or find roms to emulate old 80's console games; abandonware
2. repair old pcs, hate soldered cmos batteries (they leak and cause a mess)
3. set up old machines to play games in their true environment, like a 386 and DOS, much funnier
4. play with OSs, e.g. BSD, Linux etc... Live cds are great!! |
