|
|
A person whose ID is kept secret bought a USSR CPU on Aug-09-06 labeled T-5 and claimed to be a 80286 clone. If you are reading this, please reply and tell me if you are able to test it in a motherboard to prove it's identity.
As I'm still compiling my USSR CPU identification tables, I need this information for historical purposes.
The auction link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120016100088
I've retained the original picture of it and will post it here if anyone shows interest.
Best regards,

It's me. I hope to test in within a few weeks, or months, but at the moment I don't have a suitable motherboard. |

That was one of a quick answer
Thanks for replying, I would be very glad if you did test it. You can contact me anytime through this site or at slava18 gmailcom.
Have fun with it _________________ Collecting soviet and western CPUs once again -- highfive to old-timers o/ |

You are lucky. I just posted in the same forum on another topic, and we were just talking about the T-5 on a french forum that "Mixeur" monitors as well.
I'm determined to test it one day, and will let you know. If you need pictures, I can provide new ones as well, though the ones that the seller took are quite good to begin with.
Thanks! |

I wonder if your web site has been hacked... its content seems significally different from what Google has cached |

My site has indeed been hacked about three weeks ago. And since I've been on vacation I could not do anything about it. I blame the hosting admins, they should have updated their software beforehands.
I'm working on a small update right now, and after that I will upload the site back again. Probably I will finish by the end of this day. _________________ Collecting soviet and western CPUs once again -- highfive to old-timers o/ |

I tried the T-5 on an IBM PC AT 5170 board, and it doesn't work. The board works fine with the original Intel 6 MHz 80286. It did before the tests with the T-5, and after. The T-5 fits perfectly in the socket though - but I wasn't sure of the orientation, so I tried them all... twice to reduce the risk of improper contact. Of course there's a possibility that the CPU was fried before or during the test. But so far, so bad. Is this a correct expression? |

Just wanted to report that I finally removed the cap, and that the die underneath does not look like a 286...
No idea what it is.

yeah, i do that routinely
seriously, the possibility to learn something about this object is largely worth the "degradation" to me
so far, it's only a unknown chip in an unusual package, so it's worth very little (to me, again) |
