|

Have a Gigabyte GA-7VRX (rev 1.1) motherboard and was running a Athlon xp 2100+ at 1.733 Mhz. Just purchased a Athlon Xp 2600+, 266mhz fsb. Swapped the chips and changed the jumper setting on the board to auto becasue it was not powering up when at 12.5<=. My computer still tells me im running a 2100+ at 1733mhz. Isn't the internal clock in the Athlon supposed to automatically run at 2100mhz with a 133mhz fsb.???
I don't know what to do. Is my motherboard limiting my processor from achieving 2100mhz? can anyone help. |

Have you checked your bios version?
With my 7dxr+ I needed a bios update to run more than 2100+. |

Checked, dude that board is a mess from a bios pint of view, you need at least version F6 but I recommend F7.
F8-beta you decide if you need it.
Then your board will recognize the cpu and make it work properly. |

| Just change you FSB to the correct mhz in bios manually, it should stay that way when you reboot, I had that problem with my old MOB, every once in a while it would just kick to 100mhz, and i would have to manully change it back to 133mhz, happened like twice a year, don't know why. it did make a difference in cpu though, 1700+ amd down to 1100+. |
