Not chips but books. After looking for 4 years of I finally found a 1975 Intel Data Catalog! I don't know why Intel Data catalogs before 1977 are so rare, but just try finding one.

I was incredibly lucky a few years ago and found what I think is the only known copy of Intel's 1st Data Catalog, Dated September 1972.

I know there's at least a few other 1975 Intel Data Catalogs around but finding one for sale is not easy.

Needless to say, if you have a 1973, 1974, or 1976 Intel Data Catalog (assuming they even exist), we need to talk $$$. Send me an email @ pphillips12@sc.xx.com (replace xx with rr). I'm also looking for any early MCS-4 or MCS-4/40 User's Manuals.

Now for my second find last week... A Internet bookstore in that sells used books listed a 1973 MCS-8 User's Manual for 16.95.

I'm trying to pin down, within a year or less the introduction dates for every Intel chip made before 1980. It's not easy pinning down separate introduction dates for chips like the 2107, 2107A, 2107B, 2107C, etc.

I've just started looking thru the 1975 Intel Data Catalog, but I've already
found some interesting data sheets. For example, the 75 Catalog contains the Data Sheet for the Intel 8080 (Not the 8080A), etc.

Good find, those manuals are very rare. I was looking for old Intel manuals for quite some time, and I still can't find them. And $16.50 for MCS-8 manual is a bargain.

It gets better... The MCS-8 "manual" arrived. I thought the box felt kinda heavy (The MCS-8 manual is only about 1/4 in. thick).

Anyway, I opened up the box and there was about 1 1/2 inch thick stack of books wrapped in plastic wrap. On the top was an MCS-8 User's Manual, Rev 4 dated Nov. 1973. Under that was an MCS-8 User's Manual, Rev 3 dated March 1973, and under that was an MCS-8 User's Manual, Rev 1 dated June 1972!!!

The MCS-8 Rev 1 dated June 1972 is a real find. It has the photomicrograph of the 8008 die stapled to the back of the front cover.

Several Pages are marked out by hand with Red words "See Errata Sheet" and the replacement Errata Sheets that were simply placed loose in the guide are still there.

And there was more...

An original MCS-8 Instruction Set quick reference card (Can't be too many of these still around).

Also included was an Addenda to the 8008 User's manual, dated Dec. 1973. Approx. 20 pages.

And finally, an issue of Intel Microcomputer News from June 1975.
