| Lets think about this. I am assuming that with regard to fake we are refering to an old fake designed to fool the consumer not a new one desigened to fool the collector. I have yet to see a professional looking modern fake designed to fool the collector. I do not think a sufficient market exists to attract the kind of money a quality forgery would require. These old fakes were typically Chinese in origin, were mass manufactured, and are pretty professional looking. So, it could be a DX33 or something that has new DX50 text professionally added. On first glance it would be indestinguishable from a genuine should one exist. Soooo, plug it in and find out. It is unlikely that any internal modifications converting it to a 50mhz would be easy enough to perform even for a professional operation and it has not been repackaged as is often done so that the modifications could be done externally. If it boots at 50mhz it is real if it fails but will boot at 33 or something else it is fake. I suspect it is real. |

I agree and that would settle the question, is it fake or not.
It is still a nice looking chip. |
