It has nice 333 MHz EV5, 4.5 GB Viking 7k HDD and currently 256 MB RAM. Will try to install OpenVMS on it, and later Tru64
The peculiar thing is that, because of 128-bit addressing, the SIMMs need to be installed in... set of 8!
...and even wondered what were these big chips in here? Look closely:
But that's not even a highlight, check this out:

believe or not, the box is now in its sixth day of uptime, running VMS 7.3-1.

Very nice!
Now I`ve got appetite to
drive my old IBM RS/6000 (7012-39H, Power2) up
to run a little bit AIX

Hehe,
everytimes nice to see old equipment running.
Call me oldfashioned, but I love to administrate my servers from my workplace: An SS20 with one Ross 150 MHz CPU and 384 MB RAM, running Solaris 8.
I guess I should boot up one of my SparxLX and go online with the onboard ISDN.
lol
btw, seeing the CDE, does anybody have experience with SUNs Looking Glass Desktop? _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |

ROTFLMAO
I'll go on ebay and search for one:-)))
btw, what kind of memory uses that machine?
I have plenty of SS4/5 and SS20 modules.
The pictures don't really look like them but who knows... |

Here`s my RS/6000 320H, 1st generation Power1
with unbelieveable 25.0 MHz!
Just cleaned it, looks like new
Note the Power1-chips are socketed PGA-packages,
faster Power1-machines have already BGA-package chips.

6 (!) x 25 MHz = 150MHz!!!!
Facts:
32kB data-cache
8kB instruction-cache
Buswidths 32/64 Bit
40ns cycle time
10,6 MFlops (LINPACK, double precision)
36,8 Mips
At that time very impressive characteristics _________________ Ordem e Progresso |

SS10 works, it's a dual processor system with 224 MB RAM and 9 Gig HDD. Runs Solaris 9,
SS5 #1 is a 110er, has 160 MB RAM and 4.2 GB HDD, runs Solaris 7,
SS5 #2 is for spares, it's a 85er- but now basically an empty shell, with only mobo present. |
