Help me buying a new processor

Hi
I just get this motherboard as a gift few days ago

Now i want to buy a processor for it but i cant find a list of compatibles processor on asus page, hp website tell me that it can run only pentium D til 3.2ghz but i think i can get a better one right?
maybe a core 2 duo?
Please i need some help

well...a pentium D should work in every case...with a core 2 duo....just try it Razz Very Happy

yes, i found that it will fit a pentium d 960 that will be nice, but, its only 800 fsb, and the chipset can support 1066mhz of fsb, that is a core duo right_? I want to be sure that it can take a 2,6 core duo because i want to get the best and dont waste my money on it.
If someone here got this mobo (from a hp media center) please give me some help

i think it will handle the Core Duo, because other boards with a i945P can handle a Core 2 Duo..so that should be no problem...if it not work try it with a BIOS update...if you're able to

Not all 945 motherboards can take a Core 2 processor... I resold my Asus P5LD2 specifically because it would not take a Core 2. I read that the Core 2 had stricter requirements than previous generation processors with regard to voltage regulation...

maybe all i can get is a pentium D i think the only thing i can do is buy a core duo and if it dont work sell it
