Hi.

I have a choice between two cpu's. The one is the Amd athlon64 x2 5200+ and the other the the intel pentuim core 2 duo 6400. It cost about the same.Seeing that tom's only have the benchmarks up to the amd 5000+ I can't decide witch one to take.

Also, will one of these be a good choice for gaming or should I rather go for the Pentuim d?

Thank you!

C2D is better than 5200+, and gives no story to Pentium D.

Even better for gaming, and can be overclocked to 3 ghz as some reviews suggest.

That's the best choice so far. Sometime in april a price cut is expected, maybe wait a few more days to see if you can get a few dollars off.

There shouldn't be much of a difference in performance between E6400 and Athlon 64 X2 5200+. E6400 is $40 more expensive in Newegg than the 5200+, but if you can find them at the same price then go Core 2 Duo- I think it has better upgrade path.

Definitly C2D is the best choice.
