P4 different speeds

i have a P4 processor 2.8ghz but when installed it shows 2.80ghz and 2.09ghz. why?

that's becuase your cpu is running with a rare FSB -- 2800mhz = 200 * 14
you mother board is using a 150 mhz FSB then
150 * 14 = 2100 approx 2'09 ghz

what motherboard are you using?? maybe that's the problem. try to update the bios or change the FSB manually (not recommended if you're not an expert)

the motherboard is an Intel Desktop board D845WN. you think it can also be that the mother board doesn't support that cpu speed?

it supports fsb400(quad100) p4 only, so the fastest CPU for it is a certain model of 2,6 Ghz Northwood,
Your Northwood is probably 2,8 Ghz with 533(quad133) Mhz FSB, so it runs at 2800/133 x 100 Mhz = 2100 Mhz.
