Hi People, Very Happy

Can anyone advise me about a CPU upgrade?
I have an Pentium III 450MZ, 2.0v S1, SL364 and I want to possibly upgrade to 1GZ. Is this possible?

Thanks.

We need your mobo name, and manufacturer.

It's possible, it depends if your mobo can support it.

Most likely upgrade is an 850MHz Slot1 processor- Most of those boards dont take kindly to the 133MHz Bus, and dont like any multis over 8.5x, in my experience.

yeah no problem. First adapter Slot1 to FCPGA + second adapter FCPGA to FCPGA2 and then you can use Celeron Tualatin 1400 MHz. Works on about 95% motherboards with Intel 440BX/ZX chipset and up.

But dont forget the high multi's on those uP! Some mobos dont go higher than 8x or 8.5x, like I said.

I have an early P2B mobo that only accept PII and PIII Katmai (up to 600 MHz). Nothing more, no coppermine.

@Marcin- Really?? I thought the absolute factor to that was the BIOS support of multi... I didnt know adaptors could override the BIOS multiplier!

@Mixeur- I have a P2B that recently passed.... That was one of the best mobos I ever had! I got her all the way up to a 150MHz bus... And back then, it was something!

One way to know if P2B will support higher CPUs with adapters is TEST IT. I didn't upgraded that model but I suspect it shoudn't be a problem.

Only one barrier is if mobo not support FSB 133 MHz then will not work with any adapter and CPU at 133 MHz from that what I know.
