There are no right forum (at cpu-world.com). There could be members here watching that auction, and you donīt want extra attention to it. Many bidders = high prices.

I don't see why it's bad to post links to auctions that are interesting enough to warrant a post.

Higher prices as CPUSwe said. I think will be good to accept links to auctions which are currently ended.

I understand that people may not like links to auctions they're watching being posted, but in my opinion, creating a rule that forbids it is wrong.

I do not usually post links to live auctions, but if for some reason I want to, as an exception, I certainly will. I do not think censoring (or asking for self-censorship of) this kind of post does a service to the community, especially if the idea is "I don't want the others to compete on a fair ground for this object".

And I'm not trying to push prices up. It's more a matter of freedom of expression, unrestricted flow of information, and market fairness.

This rule or "policy" was added as a request by the community, the collectors here, not by admins or moderators. So the rule DOES "a service to the community", not censoring.

Would you post a reference to the page where this policy is stated, as well as to the background request for it? Perhaps should we try a poll - something like should links to live ebay auctions be allowed in posts in these forums?

"For Sale (auction links)" Forum Guidlines - Please read first. Top thread in this subforum.

# No SPAM, no "Make Money fast", no off-topic messages.
# No website advertisements, no links to off-site websites with the exception of eBay and other auction sites.
# No "For Sale" and/or "For Trade" information - there is a separate forum for this.
# No "Want to Buy" requests - there is a separate forum for these.
# Only Post links to your own auctions

I cant find the specific thread which lead to this guideline but here are two similar...

http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6117
http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3406

Edit: Actually the "3406" topic does mention addition of the rule...

OK - I think that this does more harm than good, but since there are many more voices in favor of this policy than against it, case closed as far as I'm concerned.
