I need to build or get a new system. I will be using Win XP and playing some games but not in competition. I will start with a empty case.
Please advise on a good chip and mb to use. I have used Intel and AMD in the past. I do not overclock and do not need flashing lights on the case or other whistles and bells.

My main concern is saviing legacy software until Vista is a proven OS. It would be nice if the new machine would run Vista at a later date.

Thank you

you should take a Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 with 2 Gb RAM.

Choose a Mainboard with a Intel P965, maybe from MSI.

A 500 Gb SATA II Hard disk should ne enough for music, movies, pictures etc.

Your Video Crad could be a Nvidia 7600GT oder a newer 8600GT with DX10.
