I think this is a SGI RealityEngine geometry engine or at least that is what I believe. Eventhough the LSI controller in the middle is common I really like it. Morkork might be able to shed some more light on it.

How do you power up and test a board like this?

Beautiful.

I was wondering the same thing. In fact I dont even recognize the three ports on the left hand side of the board but I bet a couple others may know.

Of course it needs a SGI machine to test it Smile

If ever there was a PCB that needed to be hung on the wall and framed, this is it.

That board has to have the densest uP to PCB ratio of any board I have ever seen!

I'd put it in a display case on the wall, but also (at the same time) have it working (obviously would involve stripping the remainder of an SGI system...) - that's how I'm thinking of decorating my workspace when I get that organised Smile Kinda like working in a highly organised junkyard if I get it working right Smile

They have some display cases at a local hobby shop that I am going to try out this weekend. I am in the same situation, we are moving out fo an apt. into a house and so right now my our office is covered in hardware and chips but once we move into the new place the plan is to have 2-3 display cases on the walls.
You also reminded me of something I have been wanting to do. I think it would be neat to have a mini itx system mounting on the wall and running. I remember seeing someone do something similar to this on the forums at www.mini-itx.com. They basically mounted the hardware to a clear piece of plexi-glass.

It seems to be a Reality Engine 2, for the SGI Onyx workstation.

Good point. Are there other pc's besides SGI that have large amounts of CPUs on them like this?
