I have some CPU over heating the CPU is running from a Fresh start @ 89C and I dont know why. Before It was shutting off at boot up then I reinstalled everything and boots up but now the CPU is over heating.

MOBO = ASUS P5 800
CPU = P4 3.06ghz
CPU FAN = Thermaltake Jungle 512
Mem = 1.5 ghz PC 3200
Power Supply 400W

Please help me!

If you need any more info please let me know, I think it is the MOBO. the MOBO is about a 1.5 Years old.

Heatsink would be very hot at that temp. I'm sure that is motherboard temp sensor. It gives not true measurements. If that is right disable CPU option in BIOS "Shutting down computer at temp...".

Yes I did that at first the Cooler wasn't touching the CPU, then I had to put pressure in order to Boot Up the PC, those pins that are supposed to keep it in place are not that good, well finally I was able to keep it in place make those pins work. But still is running from a fresh start at 89C the CPU, I am really believing that my MOBO is the Problem. Although the ASUS PROBE software it comes with the MOBO reads CPU 89C, System 35C.
So I am not sure if it is the MOBO or it is my CPU Sad

Motherboard not overheat CPU and oneself. Only sensor can not work correctly but as you said system is going FROZEN and CPU was without good stick with cooler so there I have no other diagnosis. In same time I do not exclude motherboard as damaged too. To check it at first you must get CPU to test. Don't worry you will not damage it if you correctly install cooling system. Good luck

I kind of found the problem, I think. I noticed the cooling paste was really dry so I reapplied new paste, now from 89C fresh start now starts at 40'sC and drops down to 36C so now it runs between 36C to 56C.
But still Froze from time to time, could it be my Video Card? I think it got bad because lately I was playing video games a lot.

I check my PS and the PS it is in perfect conditions.

Please give me other options so maybe I can check them myself instead of spending more money buying a new system.

Thank You I appreciate your comments and your help

How you checked it ? I don't think it is VGA. Borrow from someone CPU and test again. Your had almost flames on it Wink so I would test and be sure "at your side" (sorry don't know how to tell that correctly)

Well in order to check my PS condition I bought a PS TESTER in a store here in the States. it test all the connections. Well I believe it is my VGA because will I let my cover open in order to get more ventilation I felt that the heat was now coming from the VGA so what I did I installed a new fan really in fron of the VGA so FRESH AIR goes to it directly, also I change the settings of the VGA to BEST FOR PERFORMANCE and now it kind of looks bad ( like windows 95 ) but it doesnt FREEZE no more and also works faster. I dont know but I think I am about to buy a new computer with a Duo Core and 2 gigs Memory. Lol Thanks for your help I really appreciated at least someone had compasion and try to help.
