Anybody ever hear of a Athlon cpu identifing its self as a duron MP. I bought this cpu off ebay its a Athlon Palomino 1700+ as is inscribed on the cpu die but I plugged it into my test board and it Identified its self a a Duron MP forgot to look at the speed now I look at the top of the cpu and it looks like someone use a copper trace repair kit trick mod on it plus maybe cut a couple of traces. I've even done a few .but I've never seen a Athlon boot up and say it was a Duron. Is it possible that someone was remarking Durons as Palomino's? howed they reburn the Athlon logo over the duron? or is it possible to make a duron boot up as a athlon, If it indeed was a Athlon and whoever modified this cpu messed up badly and now says its a Duron. think he was tring to make a Athlon MP.the fool did a lot of work on this cpu only needed to make two mods to make it a Athlon MP if it is indeed a Athlon. Iam surprized it even boots
