I have a couple good digital photos that I have been trying to make decent avatars out of but I am not very good at keeping any image quality as I compress them and shrink their pixel count. The evidence of this is my avatar which looks pretty crappy. I have noticed quite a few folks on this forum obviously are pretty good at doing this compression. If one of you wouldn't mind compressing one of my photos into an avatar I would be very appreciative. Anyhow, below are the photos.
Thanks,

here is a quick one...
As the keychain is rectangular, I rotated it to make the most use of the 128x128 box. |

For the clock I'd take a scan/picture of the left inside face , and present that square on, not showing the clock.
or.. take a scan of the clock face.. something like this.. |

A general hint for shrinking images while keeping as much details as possible:
Do it in multiple steps and sharpen between the steps.
fo first make 600 pixels out of 1000, sharpen (use "Unsharp mask" with the values 50 - 1,0 - 0)
then 400, sharpen, 200, sharpen... |
