I am unsure as to wha CPU i can upgrade to. I have a PCCHIPS motherboard V3.1 with an AMD Duron 1300 processor.

Your mobo support CPUs on max 266 MHz FSB so Athlon 2600+ /266 or Duron 1800 is answer.
