You don't need to do anything if you have Windows 2000/NT/ME/98/95 or Linux. If you have Windows XP then it may ask you to re-activate your license.

your heatsink and fan will still fit but its always good to get a better one when you buy a new processor. well i think so anyways Smile

You current fan/heatsink will probably work, especially if you have fan/hs for Palomino 1800+ (AX1800DMT3C). If the new processor runs too hot with your current fan/heatsink then just buy better fan/heatsink.

ok so i got a: Athlon XP 3000+ with 333 MHz FSB from a ebay seller kit2271

seems to have excellent feedback but heres the thing

when look at sytem it tells me that its running at 1.30 GHz so i am confused i thought it would be 2.something GHz
and its named as: Athlon (tm) XP

is this just a set up glitch or have i bought a lemon

You're running it at 200 MHz FSB. See if you can change FSB in BIOS to 333 MHz (which is actually 166 MHz double-data rate).
