Hi there, I'm having a problem, I am trying to upgrade my old Intel Celeron 2.0 processor for a new Intel Prescott 3.0 CPU. My mobo is an ECS Elitegroup PM800-M2. After I put the Prescott in, the power light stays on red, with the Celeron it goes to green right away and powers on normally.
Here are the specs for that motherboard, can anyone see if it's compatible, it looks like it is to me.
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=453&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=45&LanID=9
Thanks a lot guys.

As far as I can see the board should support it. Have you downloaded the latest BIOS for it?
You could also have a problem with the wrong power setting on the cpu.
Celeron: V core (V) 1.475 - 1.525
Prescott: V core (V) 1.25 - 1.4
I have had a look at the motherboard manual and I see there is a Bios protect jumper. It is possible this may prevent the cpu auto-detect from changing the bios settings for the new cpu. |

Hey, I checked the mobo and the jumper setting for the bios protect was set on Disabled, so that didn't do the trick.
Any other ideas, although that was a good one. |
