Hi,
I must boast my CPU change in PC. I swap my Athlon 3000+ AM2 to Opteron 1220 - exactly same what FX-62
Finally got something powerful with dual core in great price. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

I think Pentium D will enter to history as hottest PC class CPU ever
I will change Opteron 1220 to FX62 soon because of upgrading PC in work.
Just a tip to overclockers :
Athlons X2 have locked multiplier
Opterons X2 have unlocked multiplier to max model value i.e. 1220 max 14x and below
FX have totally unlocked _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

That was me.
Why don't you resell it and wait to buy some Am2/+ stuff? Or you have some ultra low latency ram you can't get away from?
Can I ask you what was the system you oc'ed your 3000+ before the big opteron step? Thanks |

Athlon 3000+ 1,8 Ghz I overclocked to 2,7 GHz on Buffalo Select 4.4.4.1x 533 MHz DDR2 2x1GB on 1.95V (stupid ASUS M2N-E barrier in regulation voltage on RAM)
I gave motherboard, RAM, VGA to my uncle and upgraded my actual PC :
ASUS Crosshair (not crossfire) nForce SLI 590
2 x 1 GB Vitesta 800+ Extreme Edition
Leadtek 7950GT
I upgrading main PC in work because of : (some facts)
Client gave as a big file to print on plotter (Corel Draw map 0,9x1,3m lengh) :
1) PC in work : Athlon X2 3800+ S939, 2 x 1GB DDR 400, Nforce 6100, GeForce 6600, WD Caviar 320GB SATAII 16 MB.
Print to preview (or print to file) : don't know exactly time but not less than 3 hours, PC was leaved for a night
2) at home old : Opteron 1220 AM2, 2 x DDR2 533, NForce 570Ultra, 7300GT, 2x160GB@RAID0. Time : about 15 minutes
3) at home new : Opteron 1220 AM2, 2x DDR2 800, NForce 590SLI, 7950GT, 2 x160GB RAID0. Time : less than 5 minutes
These results show difference in performance of new chipsets and memory not only CPUs. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

I bought it in June, with a Thinkcentre. At that time I think it is only a littel hot.But now I think i am wrong. My processor is Pentium D 925 ,which is 65nm, I think it is better than before. |

yes 0,65 in compare to 0,9 is much much less heat.
BTW. I recommend new line of Athlons X2 3600+ brisbane on 0,65 core. They are new OC monsters from AMD. From standard 1,9 GHz all of them are going to minimum 2,6 GHz and up. My uncle will work on it @2,85 GHz (9,5x300 MHz) Temperature is less on BOX cooler then on mine Opteron with Scythe Infinity _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

OC runs in your family! Lol
With my crappy adata never got past 2200 mhz and finish a super pi.
I asked a one day trial to a friend with 2gb kingston, and got to 2400 like this. Now I'm asking another friend for his vitesta 500, at 500*2 ht + 9*500 cpu... hehe Frying egg like cyrix ones! But he's rather unwilling to let me test an OC. |

LOL
I have an athlon 1400 that needs to be underclocked to install ubuntu, otherwise winxp and zeta do work flawlessly.
Up to this day no one provided an explanation to me, I'm lazy too for a lookup though... |
