Or ASSrock as it should be called. See that others have same problems with this mother board...
I have a Athlon XP 2800+ but at 2800 it restarts ALL the time. Have to manually put it down to 156 MHz (312) when it should work fine on 166 (333). It is so god damn irritating...and if I play a game or watch video on whole screen it can even restart at 2600+ and I have to put it down even lower. Have upgraded to last bios version 2.80, but doesn't help a bit. This is the worst main board I have ever had. Cpu temp is stable at around 53 celcius...and main board temp is around 32 celcius.
Anyone has a tip about another socket 462 micro atx board I can still get new - because this sucks.

Hi,
I don't think the restarts are caused by the mainboard.
Too weak or faulty PSU can cause such problems.
What PSU do you use?
You should also try to update the video card's drivers.
Another possible solution - try to increase the VCore voltage by a small value.
I purchased a K7S41GX about one year ago.
I am using it in my router/firewall/NAS. The PC runs 24/7/12 at 100% CPU load without any problems! |

Hello. And thanks.
I updated drivers for screen card which is Creative 3D Blaster 5 FX5600 XT. Tested with Over Vcore Voltage +3% and +6%...same restarting issue happened. (VCCM Voltage 2,73V)
Wow, I didn't even think about PSU. Just assumed it was the ASRock since trouble started after my old MSI broke and I bought this. The PSU is pretty old and maybe to weak? = Chieftech Model: SI-C230P2 230W. +5V 21A, +3,3V 14A with 135W max. +12V 10A 120W.
Also tested with another cpu (Athlon XP 1800+); same.
I took out the screen card from agp and runned screen on the vga slot on mother board and it seem to last a little longer before it reboots - but it restarted then also half way through a music video on full screen mode. So is it the PSU then? If so I'll order NorthQ 4001AL, 400W.

This PSU is quite weak. You need at least a 350W one.
I have an Athlon XP2800+ PC with a 450W PSU.

The built-in VGA requires less power than the AGP FX5600 XT.
That's why the reboots were not so common. |

Ok. Then I'll order the 400W I mentioned above. It is powerful enough for my needs and I read it is pretty quiet. Thank you for your help. I'll get back with report when the new PSU is installed. |

I think you should borrow a PSU from a friend and test the PC first before purchasing a new PSU.

If not PSU so maybe : motherboard, damaged CPU, possible RAM and at last can be also VGA. So you must test by own. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

As written above I have tested with another cpu, I have tested with on board vga, updated bios,...RAM you say; is it possible that the main board can dislike the RAM (Kingston 1GB DDR333)? Can it be worth to borrow another RAM to try with?

Tested with different RAM today...no change. I go back to what I said in my first message; this main board has been ASS Rock to me. Again; can anyone advice another socket A board? |

Not to much to find since I need a micro atx mb to fit my tower. Just came over a MSI K7N2GM2-LSR. Can't wait until it is here and try it out.
EDIT: The MSI main board is installed and everything works perfect. |
