So I've recently built a computer and earlier it was idling at 34 C, but I come home and find that my monitors are reading 150 C...

I want to assume that the read is wrong as the cpu area was not excessively warm... But any ideas would be helpful, as this is my first build and I'm scared for it =]

I'm running with:
CPU- core 2 extreme quad 2.66GHz-not OCed
P5W DH Deluxe MB
Zalman 9700LED

I'm running xp pro and vista ultimate

150 degrees C is not possible. I think you have an error in your readings. Some software can be notoriously wrong in reading the mobo temps.

As JAC said, impossible to reach the 150 Celsius. I dont know what is the limit of the heat protection (what simply turn off your pc) but I'm sure that much lower.

Most modern mainstreap processors turn off at 85*C.

150 celsius is hot enough to sterilise with!!

Are you sure it doesn't just say 150 degrees? As in Farenheit?

150 DegF would be aroung 65 Deg Celsius!

Hmm, possibly got the first reading from BIOS screen in celsius and the second from something like speedfan in farenheit from windows?
