|
|
| I have an ASUS A7V-E motherboard, AMD socket A (462), with an AMD Duron 850MHz processor. I want to put together a PC with this motherboard for my little brother, but i want to upgrade the processor to an AMD Duron 1.3GHZ socket A. For what he is going to use it, thats enough. My question is, Is there a process that i need to follow, or is it just simply swapping out the processors? And if there is a process that i have to follow, or Step-by-Step guide, can someone provide me with this info. I hope someone can help me. Thank You! |

You shouldnt have a problem just swapping out the cpu, i would just reset the bios if you know how. If not there are plenty of guides out there to explain in detail how to do it, its easy. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

!?
This is the link of the CPU's supported by your Motherboard
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/A7V-E.html
Your Duron 1300 CPU is supported only if you have installed the latest BIOS available (1004)
At the first boot screen when you power on your PC, press the pause button on your keyboard and looking the exact Bios is installed on your MB, if is it 1002 you have the first Bios and not the support for for your CPU.
In this case you can easly flash your Bios
Go to Asus home page, find your MB and download the new Bios (be sure is your exact MB model), Download also the Bios utilities and with the help of the manual
http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/kt133/a7v-e/a7ve-101.pdf
you can flash your Bios
Then change the CPU and power on the PC, the new CPU will be detect automatically. |

| isa-d, if on the list you sent me of supported cpu's, under BIOS, if it says any, im assuming that i dont need to update/flash my BIOS? because, now im thinking of upgrading to an Athlon 1400MHz, faster than the duron 1300MHz, and if i dont have to mess with the BIOS, then better. |

Yes, if the list is right you don't have to flash your bios with an Athlon 1400.
If the Athlon isn't detect properly at 1400Mhz when you power on your PC, post an help here or looking at the manual for the right jumper settings on the motherboard. |
