Excuse my ignorance but which ones are engineering samples? the one with the xc or the pc in the beginning of the part number.

Really? Does Motorola manufacture this kind of CPUs around 2003?
If so, why not to add a new category of newest Motorola 68040? Wink

They are still current production at Freescale (both the A, and V version)

The M, D, B, and others are no longer in production
