|
|
A friend has been complaining about his slow computer. He ran a "LookInMyPC" scan, and it reported an L2 cache of 0 (ZERO). He checked his BIOS to see if it had been disabled and could find no reference to the L2 cache anywhere.
A CPU-Z scan reported an L2 cache size of 256KB, but we don't know if it's just reporting the size but not verifying whether or not it's enabled.
Computer specs:
eMachines T3414
Intel Celeron 346 Socket 775 LGA 3.06GHz
133MHz FSB
2GB DDR-SDRAM PC3200
RAM Timings: 3-3-3-8
Is there a way to test the processor to verify whether or not the L2 cache is enabled?? Any other suggestions?? |

In the ZIp files in which you downloaded CPU-Z, run the other nifty little progmram there It displays cache timing, and detects L1/L2/L3 timings. |

Will I be correct in saying if the 'latency' program reports data for the L2 cache, that it is enabled despite the fact "LookInMyPC" gave a value of '0'??
I just ran it on my computer and though I don't have a clue what the results mean, I DID get data for all 3 caches. I have emailed my friend to follow your advice.
Thank You................... |
