"both of these pieces have a considerable amount of solid gold. not sure why they used solid gold back then because it's not a great conductant"

and here is me going through life believing that gold was one of the best conductors there is

Hehe gold actually is a poor conductor compared to copper,
In order
Silver
Copper
Gold
Aluminium

Gold is used on contacts and pins because it resists corrosion and oxidation better the copper or silver.

Like the gold plated heatsink? One of the points was it's resistance to corrosion from silver or other thermal goo...

If they were really two 486 cpu's from 1989 his starting price was not half bad. Me thinks that given the true rarity of 1989 486's they were a bit newer.

A lot of sellers think (or imply) that the copyright date is the same as the year of manufacture, so I would assume he did that, given the poor quality images.
