I made some inquiries into the price of Intel 80386-12 chips. The price quoted was $88.88 per piece for new chips ($300 minimum order). Is anyone interested or do you think the price is too high. This is from USBid.

12Mhz? The early 386's started at 16Mhz didnt they? ( CPGA ) What is the full part number and package of these 386-12's?

Also, $88.88 seems a bit steep to me and I suspect they are quite modern. Intel only stopped the 486 and 386 family quite recently. There must be billions of them out there in the embedded market.

Hi John,

I am interested, but at the time I am a bit short in money.
If you say January / February then it should be possible.

When you buy more, is there a better price possible?

Regards

Edgar

I also made some inquiries.
This is the response I received "these parts have gold leads and under body, so they are worth more melted down, can you pay 90.00 ea" Laughing

I won`t be buying right now as there would have to be at least 4 people to cover the $300 minimum order. 4 would be close to $360.

I would be interested in one, but like others would be in a better position to pay near (or after) Christmas, when I should be up-to-date with payments and have money in the bank (for a nice change Smile ).

S40277 is the only 80386-12 that I am aware of, and I have not seen many examples of it.

I didn't know there was a "S40334". Most that I ahve seen are "S40344". Your chip looks rather rough, as if it is one of those infamous Chinese fakes which used a layer of paint (not even smoothing it down). Did you test the chip? Are you sure of it authenticity? If so, it looks like it may be a new spec...

I'am ok for one more.
Why you do not put this message in " groupe buys"?
I think the price is hight.
If we are more the price could be less expensive.
How many 386-12 can you order?

Yann.
