I have the above computer that beloned to my teenage son several years back. His room was filthy (typical teenage boy). I used the computer for quite a while until the Intel CPU started running pretty hot (135F) with no stress. It had 512 of DDR 400 RAM, an Intel 2.6 GHz processor (sorry I don't have more info on that) and the mobo version is a MS-7211 1.08B2 Gamilla. I could find very little info about the mobo. Also on the bottom of the machine it says Presario SR1000, SR 1113NX. Made in Mexico. I let it sit for a few days. Then I decided that maybe the heatsink needed reseating and I got all the instructions from Arctic Silver but have yet to purchase their product. I cleaned a TON of dirt from between the fins of the heatsink with a toothpick, used LOTS of dustoff and cleaned everything I could. I added an A Power pure black 680 watt dual fan processor to replace the little p/s that was in it. I decided to put it back in line and got nothing...I mean everything powered up (but I could not feel the HDD start up, so I replaced it). I also tried different video cards at first because I am using the on board video. Nothing. So after I put in the new HDD I also put in a Window XP installation disk in the combo drive. It lit up, but did not read it. Everything seems to be running, but I get no video, even with the installation disk in and going from completely off and turning the machine on with the disk in it, which has worked for me in the past to do a clean install. I don't know if the processor is fried or if the controllers on the mobo don't know how to act without all that dirt on them. The RAM is seated very well. I have tried all I know and would sure appreciate it. Thank you very much!

Did you start it up without the heatsink on the cpu? It's not something I have done, but if you did that you might have damaged your cpu. ( has anyone done this and their cpu survived? ) P4 cpus are very cheap, try buy a cheap replacement or maybe someone can lend you one.

just a thought: have you re-connected all power connectors to the board?

The last time I had a similar problem like yours was when my memory died.

Have you scanned the RAM timings for Operator's Headspace?? Too much real estate between the audio collectors will prevent the connection which allows proper operation of the computer. Wink

That'a a signature quote man! Neat and clean, add it to yours.

I think the cpu or motherboard are gone, try with another stick of ddr, any will do, ask a friend to lend one to you. If there was too much dust inside maybe it just overheated some of the mobo components, a guess.

Go to http://www.tomshardware.com/ and read reviews and have a new pc.
